Wokingham Win Opener
In a preseason encounter between Wokingham CC and Camberley CC, Wokingham won by 25 runs.
The Oaks won the toss and elected to bat, setting a target of 219 runs for Camberley CC. Their innings was anchored by Conrad Martucci's impressive knock of 73 runs, supported by valuable contributions from Dan Housego (37) and Jacob Clark (35*). Despite facing some economical bowling from Camberley CC, Wokingham CC managed to post a challenging total of 218 runs, all out in 45.4 overs.
Camberley CC began their chase well, but Wokingham CC's bowlers stuck at the task as hand to keep the game in check. Ali Raja, on debut, led the bowling attack with a superb spell, claiming three wickets and putting Camberley CC under pressure. Jacob Clark and Tom Hampton, also on debut, also made significant contributions, each taking two wickets to restrict Camberley CC's scoring opportunities. Despite the best efforts of George Edwards, who scored 55 runs, Camberley CC fell short of the target, managing to reach 193 runs before being bowled out in 45.3 overs. Wokingham CC emerged victorious by 25 runs in what they hope will the first of many wins this season.
