Dear Member,
These are unprecedented times. Our decisions must be driven by the safety of our members and families at this time and with that in mind we, like all other organisations, are having to review our operations. As the situation with regards to cricket is very fluid, and in reality no one can predict the timing of the virus peak or after effects, but conservatively is most likely interruption is due to continue into late April, early May but probably longer. This applies to Senior and Junior cricket.
Therefore please be advised that the club (pavilion & grounds), this includes the nets, will be closed for any events for at least 30 days, from today. This period will be reviewed in line with current and future Government / Sport England advice every two weeks as to when we can begin planning for cricket and social activities to recommence. It goes without saying that we will update you on a regular basis.
We will endeavour to prepare for the season as best we can in the interim period to be ‘ready’, however it goes without saying, that the financial impact will be severe, as all private and commercial lettings have been cancelled, the building has all but essential utilities now shut down, that said ongoing costs to run the club still apply.
In this light, and with regards to membership fees, we would greatly appreciate your continued support during this time, by filling in your membership online and paying by BACS (https://www.wokingham.cc/cricket/membership/). We cannot guarantee when friendlies / the leagues will commence or finish at this stage, however if for instance the season is delayed until June, we would look to carry forward a pro rata credit to be applied to next seasons membership.
We greatly appreciate your support and understanding at this time.
Regards,
Paul Hayter
Chairman WCC
